2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 9,200 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Shelter Drop In Burnside

The shelter with generator was set in place yesterday at our Burnside Township site. Workers and truck drivers had their work cut out for them with the warm and rainy weather. Lot’s of rain mixed with a 2 inch frost that recently melted made the newly landscaped site very muddy. The trucks with the crane counterweights and shelter were unable to back up the long service drive with their loads. A giant dump truck from a nearby gravel pit was used to tow the trucks up the hill to the site. The truck with the shelter had a gross weight of over 100,000 pounds.

By the end of the day, the shelter was in place and all the trucks made it out of the site and the service drive graded again.

State Police Investigating Suspicious Death in Lapeer County

FLINT. On November 15, 2011, at 11:30pm, a family member called the Michigan State Police (MSP) Flint Post to report that their 20-year-old daughter was missing from her home near Otisville in Genesee County.

The family member explained that the missing woman was house-sitting at a relative’s home on Kings Mills Road in Mayfield Township in Lapeer County.

Troopers from the Lapeer Post were dispatched to the residence in an attempt to locate the missing woman, but did not make contact with anyone at the home.

At approximately 2:30 am, a call was made to Lapeer County 911 Center to report that the missing woman’s car was found in a parking lot at the Lapeer State Game Area on Five Lakes Road, not far from where the woman was house-sitting.

Troopers secured the area and requested a K-9 tracking dog and MSP aviation support to search the area.

At approximately 4:30am, troopers made entry into the Kings Mills Road residence and found the missing 20-year-old woman deceased.

This suspicious death and missing persons report is being investigated by detectives from the Flint and Lapeer Posts, with the assistance of the MSP Bridgeport Crime Lab and Lapeer County Prosecutor Byron Konschuh.
